Potassium Hydroxide / Sodium Metasilicate Blend

PERFECT FOR:

A heavy alkaline caustic stripper that can remove oil based finishes and when boosted with Stripper Booster can remove stubborn water base finishes.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS:

  • For a Light Strip: Mix 1/4 cup per gallon of water
  • For a Medium Strip: Mix 1/2 cup per gallon of water
  • For a Heavy Strip: Mix 1 cup per gallon of water

  • DO NOT MIX WITH OTHER CHEMICALS.

Coverage Rates

Coverage: 8oz of EXPERT Clean & Bright Wood Stripper will make 1 gallon of cleaning solution and cover approximately 150 to 250 sq. ft. depending on surface and method of application.

Application Method

REAL APPLICATION. Easy-to-Use & Clean-Up.

Read through all the step-by-step instructions prior to using EXPERT®™ Clean & Bright Wood Stripper.

MIXING: Always wear heavy-duty rubber gloves, NIOSH approved respirator and full PPE when working with EXPERT Clean & Bright Wood Stripper, or any other EXPERT Clean & Bright products.  Wood Strippers can cause chemical burns if in contact with skin, eyes or lungs. Mix 4oz to 8oz of Wood Stripper with each gallon of cold water and stir thoroughly until powder is mostly dissolved. Mix in a separate 5-gallon pail before transferring into a pump sprayer. This avoids clogging the sprayer. Use Cleaner solution within 6 hours of mixing.  Wood Stripper mixed solution is Red in color for ease of identification.

APPLICATION: Pre wet the surface with water before application. Apply EXPERT Clean & Bright Wood Stripper solution with a sprayer, brush, or car wash brush, working on small areas (100-200 sq. ft.) at a time.

If applying cleaner on vertical surfaces using a sprayer, work on small areas at a time, starting at the bottom, and working your way up.

If needed, scrub thoroughly with a hard, short, bristled broom, or brush. Be sure to keep the area wet with additional solution or mist from a water hose and allow the wood Stripper to sit for approximately 5 to 45 minutes or until the desired result is achieved. Be sure to keep the stripping surface wet with more solution or water mist from a hose.

RINSE: Rinse thoroughly with water from a hose or pressure washer using lowest effective pressure, to clean without damaging the wood.  For extreme build up of dirt, or stains from organic growth use either a power washer, or a hard bristled brush. While using a power washer, use only the minimum effective amount of pressure to achieve the desired result.  Particular care should be taken in order to not damage the wood, power wash using a pendulum motion the full length of each board.  Do not start and stop as scarring or gouging of wood can occur.  **Paint and stain chips may stick to and can dry on other painted surfaces, caution must be used to completely rinse away all of the old finish from all surrounding surfaces.

NEUTRALIZE: After Stripping is complete, immediately neutralize and brighten the wood using EXPERT Clean & Bright Wood Brightener. Let EXPERT Wood Brightener sit for 5 to 15 minutes ensuring the entire surface has been properly neutralized and rinsed thoroughly. A color change will be evident when properly brightened, this will open wood grain and prevent poor stain penetration.

IMPORTANT: After Brightener is applied, rinse wood’s entire surface for 10 to 15 minutes, and rinse all nearby surfaces including siding, windows, and foliage.

Allow wood surfaces to dry 48 to 72 hours (or longer) before applying EXPERT Stain & Seal wood stains. Stains must be applied when wood is dried to 13% moisture content or less.

Clean tools and equipment immediately after each use with soap and water.

Deck Stripper

Bought 2 8oz packages of this stuff and it was a waste of time and money. Mixed the first bag the strongest it said on the package and that had little to no result after 30 minutes. The next day I mixed the second bag even stronger with less water, let it sit for one hour while misting it with water so it would not dry. Used a deck scrubber and lastly my power washer and it had the same results, it took off only about 10% of the oil based semi solid satin. It did work great in removing a couple spots of bird shit! I do not recommend this product. I lost about 5 hours total of my life that I cannot get back.

Works ok

switched a 1500 sq ft deck from oil based stain to water based stain, the stripper works well, the concentration instructions are a bit timid, next time I'll use the upper limit or a bit more, the muriatic acid did a fine job bleaching the wood, I did rent a large 12x19 deck sander which is a wonderful tool, fool proof , to do the last prep before the stain, the water based stain was a mistake as it stains immediately and it is very hard to get a consistent color , or maybe it was just the home depot expensive stain.

A challenge to remove Behr Latex Stain

The stripper: deck stain remover was expensive and even with the booster not any more effective than over the counter products. I applied it and power washed the deck 3 times. With shipping it cost close to $200. At that price I expected better results.
